Week 4 - Calgon take me away.

Okay...it should be easier. We should be in a "routine" of some kind. My house should be cleaner than ever with my being off work for like 2 months. But uh...no. None of the above. Aaargh!
Its terrible when you really try to force your 2 year old to sit and watch TV. I find myself wishing she would get fixated on the television, like her older brother...so that I could accomplish something...anything! But who am I kidding...if she and her older brother were both sitting transfixed to the TV...the newborn would be wailing or the cat would be puking or the washing maching overflowing, etc. I need to be better about just getting stuff done despite the circumstances...hmpf.

I seriously kid you not, my house was a DISASTER until just before Xmas (it still isn't "Quigs" clean, which is a little OCD for me but before I was embarrassed to have people over because it was so dirty.

I have no animals, one kid in school full time and another in preschool two days a week. Something should have gotten done but it just never did. I found other things to fill my time.

Go easy on yourself sister. You have 3 kids under 5. Plus, you've only been staying home full-time for 2 months. It will take some time before you get a routine in place...even though a routine is highly overrated in my opinion.

I surprised with a two month old that you even get dressed or leave the house. That is a major accomplishment IMO. I think I was in pajamas for 6 months after WW was born.

And you're right, once you focus on getting something done, inevitabley someone will need something.

First of all, my house is not clean. Rogers' house is clean!

And secondly, I agree with everyone else. I've been staying home for 3 years now and my shit still doesn't get done when it's supposed to get done. I figure if the kids are dressed and they got three meals that day, it's been a success. :)

I was thinking of you yesterday while I was home with the kids bc they were out of school and our day care lady took a long weekend off. I decided that if I was a stay at home mom, I would go every day without make-up......and also, likely every other day without a shower. :)

Hang in there. When the kids are older, they won't remember how often you vacuumed or did the dishes. They'll remember how you hung out with them and loved them.

Almost every Monday since Mike went back to school (In August), I have thought about having a routine. And every single Monday I have not followed a routine at all- in fact the few times I tried to plan out my day Eli woke up puking- so I blame the routine. Just feed them and occasionally bathe them and you're good! ;)

Just remember that Carol Brady had no job and a live-in housekeeper...

June Cleaver sent both of her kids off to school, and they were like 12 and 15.

Me, I'm more of a Roseanne kind of mom. The house is still standing, the kid's in school most days and we've got cereal and peanut butter and jelly in the house in case someone gets hungry.

The key is not worry about accomplishing anything for a while. It WILL come. Take this time to lavish your kids with love and if you have a second to pamper yourself...house be damned, everything else be damned. Sooner than you think you'll be handling it all like it was nothing, but you need to let go for a while first.
