Our Family - Early Bird Day 8

Last night, we all visited Early Bird. We prepared the kids for double hand washing and quiet voices...and all went to NICU. Here's our first family portrait.

Early Bird is doing really well. She's getting the hang of the bottle/breast feeding, slowly but surely.

Wow! They let the whole fam in. How exciting!! She looks cute in her little crib. It almost matches the one she has at home.

We operated under the "don't ask, don't tell" philosophy. We came right after the day & night nurses switched...catch 'em off guard...we came in like we do this all the time. We all walked over to EB's bed, then we all peeked at the baby in her bed, got our pic taken, and started towards the door. Because it was about this time that Mealy Worm started the screaming. (She wanted to see all the babies..not just ours, which is a NICU no-no.)

That is hilarious and just the way to do it. They have been very patient waiting to see their new sister they deserve to finally see her. I'm with Mealy Worm I wanted to see all the babies too except some of them made me sad. What did they think of Early Bird?

Have you read An Innocent, A Broad? It is Ann Leary's (Dennis Leary's wife) book about having a preemie in England. Talking about walking in like you all belonged reminded me of part of the book, where they talk about how different the NICU is in England than it is here.

Godd to hear she is doing well. Poor MW, I'm sure she would have loved to see the babies :)

Beautiful family! We enjoyed having the kids at the house tonight (and Kelly!). C & B are filled with questions about EB - where she is, how she is, when she will come home. So apparently they will be stalking the newest member of the family soon too!

I love the whole family picture. Give all three kids a kiss from Gram Harriet.

So glad to see and hear! The room looks surprisingly homey - although I know how glad you'll be to have her home for real. You're a good Mommy.

I apologize that I haven't left a comment, but I have been following along. I hope that Early Bird is doing well and that your entire family is adjusting. Please keep us updated. Even though some of us don't "know" you, we are thinking about you and truly care.
